Frequently Asked Questions:

1- How do we install Thuraya antenna for Thuraya CELL?
No additional antenna is required as Thuraya Cell has a built in antenna within the product itself.

2- What kind of cables are needed for this product?
No RF cables are needed, only 12V DC power (like Car battery) is needed. You can just supply 12V DC from an adaptor or car battery.

3- Can I use this product outdoor?
Yes, the product enclosure is water proof enabling outdoor use as well as indoor where it can be placed in front of a window that you can receive Thuraya signal.

4- Do I have to use the WiFi handset supplied by Teknobil or Can I use my GSM phone with this product?
You can use ANY WiFi sip phone with Thuraya CELL.

5- How far is the WiFi coverage?
It depends on the environment. The coverage is 30m with the existing antenna. You can extend the coverage using WiFi repeaters as far as you require.

6- How can I give coverage to my entire office. Do you have a suggestion?
You can place the product in a location where it has uninterrupted access to Thuraya signal and install WiFi boosters (repeaters) to extend your coverage.

7- Is my communication secure? Can other people spy on my conversations or Internet data?
The communication is digital communication and is encrypted (WEP,WPA, WPA2).

8- Can I use it for tracking?
Yes, the unit is compatible with Teknobil Smart Vehicle Tracking System. You need to contact Teknobil (thurayacell@teknobil.com.tr) to sign up for the service.

9- How can I call a particular internal user?
The incoming calls will come to the reception number and the “reception” will transfer your call to the desired internal user. The reception number can be set very easily using the WiFi handsets.

10- What makes Thuraya Cell different than any other WiFi hot spot product?
There are several major differences: Almost all WiFi hot spots are backhauled through ADSL or some other fixed broadband connection, while Thuraya CELL uses Thuraya GmPRS and it is mobile. Thuraya Cell will work at the locations where there is no fixed line or mobile network coverage. Secondly, Thuraya Cell is the first ever WiFi product providing internet, voice and PBX functionality at the same time, thus it is a complete communication solution.

11- Can my neighbor use my unit without my permission?
If you do not use the password property and leave it open, yes they can use it. You have to restrict your system to the users with authorized passwords only. The password settings can be done from the web interface very easily.
